Great Cause for Celebration!
Today speaks of celebration in so many ways. In the Mayan calendar today is 13 Chicchan, the Monkey – and the focus is on that child-like quality of play and adventure that should be woven deeply into our adult lives. Today is also my birthday, and this once a year event comes and goes so quickly. How many times do we say, “I wish I had more to celebrate”, how many times do we weigh and measure, and if the scale tips enough to the side of accomplishment or having done enough hard work, only then do we have something to celebrate?
I see this as a case of which came first, the chicken or the egg! If celebration is something that always needs to be earned, how do we ever muster up the energy and desire to achieve it? Celebration comes from our heart, the inner core that speaks out of our child-like appreciation of everything in life.
This is the voice of the Healing Drum Retreat, to celebrate all that we are, not just our weighing and measuring, but our amazing being! We carry this tone in everything we do at the Healing Drum Retreat. From drumming and singing for release and for joy, to turning inward and reconnecting to a part of us that awaits our return. Every part of the Healing Drum Retreat is about celebration, weaving that inviting spark into our words, thoughts and actions. This is why so many say, “I feel like I’m home”. It’s the combination of the outer world of great company to share the weekend with, and the inward recognition of your own divine self.
