Where there is Spirit there is Hope
We can get by, day after day, living a good life or at least a passable one. There is definitely value to the basics of life: enough food for the day, clothing to keep us warm, and shelter from the elements. As humans we have the ability to grow, and nowadays we see those basic things in life as inadequate. There is so much more to living!
Love and companionship carries us to another level, beyond the basic survival world. We have created families, clans, villages, and in the business world corporations and departments to build a collective alliance. The Healing Drum Retreat is a form of community, an opportunity for us to gather, share, and grow.
There are many other qualities that we possess as people that carry us from the environment of the moment into a new world. There is faith, vision, desire, passion, creativity, and hope. This ability to dream a new dream can act as a double sided sword: we can be drawn from the world today, and find ourselves lost in a daydream, but our vision can also grow strong and bright, guiding us like a lighthouse to our next step.
The Healing Drum Retreat is a step outside the norm we call our day, and into a new perspective where we can focus on our dreams and fill our visions with hope. In fact, our September 18-20, 2009 retreat is at Hope Grange in Winlock Washington. Hope Grange – what a wonderful sentiment to set for our retreat!
This event will be very relaxed, but filled with so much activity and healing that we will rise within ourselves to that next level, to the place where spirit abides within the physical. Hope – what a wonderful sentiment. Let us pave the way to tomorrow with hope, carrying our love and joy to fuel us to our next step.

can any one there explain the symbolism of bats
Yes – bats have the gift of perceiving through super-keen radar, and their night time feeding is based upon sending and receiving those waves of energy rather than “seeing”.
We can take that focus and find abilities within ourselves, such as our ability of intuition, which is the gut-level feeling.
I feel the message in looking at the bat as a totem is to look beyond the obvious and learn to use the more subtle tools we possess.
