Feather Fan and Smudging
The beaded feather fan portion of the Healing Drum Retreat was so much fun! Everyone dove in with great vigor, and each feather fan was so unique! There was opportunity to pick out the right bead combination to compliment the feathers. Kaye was available even while cooking to guide a beading mishap back into alignment.
On Sunday afternoon we had a smudging session, and everyone had the chance to see and then practice smudging using their feather fans.
In this photo Kaye is demonstrating the art of smudging using a sage bundle and a feather fan. The smoke is fanned front and back, beginning with the recipient sweeping the smoke up and over their head. Smudging sets the intent of purification, blessing, and created sacred space.
