Walk Softly: It’s okay to be spiritual!
In coming together we create a bond with one another. It takes some time to shake off the layers we build up around ourselves from the “outer world”.
On the first evening we make drums. For those who want to make drums we have plenty of people who have already gone through this experience to help them, as well as the guidance of the teacher. This is a time of cleansing and community, letting go of the outside world and stepping into a sacred space. This is a bonding time.
Then on the second day we start with greeting of the day, we join together and learn different spiritual practices and healing techniques from around the world. We sing many cultural songs, and practice drumming on individual and group drums. As we move from having these new ways as concepts to practicing and using these techniques we can better integrate these cultural and spiritual ways into our lives.
We move into our crafting time, which is really an extension of our spiritual and healing time. Through the arts we are connected to the creator.
Later in the evening we give everyone an opportunity to further release all the old ideas and ideologies that they have carried with them. If they are ready to release we have a time for them to focus on that release, not in rejecting but in honoring and letting go. We have our campfire, story telling, and singing. We may even have smores, let’s take a vote!
Sunday we have opportunity to continue the healing process and to be in the energy long enough to know “it’s okay to be spiritual”. We learn how to walk softly, and carry this experience into the world!
Join us for the September 18-20, 2009 Healing Drum Retreat.
