The Question of Culture

One of the questions that has been asked about the Healing Drum Retreat is “what is the cultural focus?”. This is a great question, but in finding the answer we must also let go of some of our older beliefs.

We bring into the Healing Drum Retreat many Native American, Tibetan, Feng Shui, Huna, Maya and other traditions. While a tradition might be held in ownership by a single group or culture these traditions go much deeper, oftentimes spanning conceptually around the world and throughout time.

We are One, We are Many

At the Healing Drum Retreat you will also find many spiritual beliefs and practices. We offer the Healing Drum Retreat at the Brighton Creek Conference Center. Brighton Creek is a Baha’i retreat facility, but the Healing Drum Retreat is not a Baha’i event. We acknowledge and support all beliefs, and encourage anyone to participate in the Healing Drum Retreat so long as they can allow others to speak and live within their own beliefs.

Historically our culture and beliefs have been held tightly within our tribes, clans and families. Safety and continuity were two of the reasons why so many of our teachings were held private and hidden. But our world is changing, and that change is rapid. One of the transitions we see is the blending and joining of the many sects and beliefs.

The Concept of Oneness in This World

Many seek to carry this world into the oneness that we all come from the same place, and we are all of equal value regardless of color, race, economic valuations, or any other exterior shell we wear. As we step in to that place of connectivity we will see that we are each stronger when we stand together.
