Explore our Diverse Culture through Native Flute Making
For our sixth Healing Drum Retreat, offered June 19-21, 2009, we will have a special treat: Billy Conway will be offering a class on Friday evening where attendee’s will make their own Native Flute.
Historically native flutes still exist that date back to 600 A.D. at Prayer Rock in Arizona. Each clan has their own stories and beliefs in the spiritual nature of flutes, but all will agree that the sound of the flute carries our prayers to Great Spirit.
The Native Flute Making class, including the kit, is $100, and requires pre-registration by June 9, 2009. Limited space is available. This pricing is a special offering at the June 2009 Healing Drum retreat. Native flute making classes can cost as much as $1500. Billy graciously offers his time and knowledge as he has in the past with medicine bags, dream catchers, and many other native projects. A limited number of kits may be available for last minute registration for $115.
The class is two part, with prep and glueing on Friday evening, then finishing and practice on Saturday afternoon. Interested in joining this class? The Healing Drum Retreat weekend is an easy integration between the Friday and Saturday segments, giving insights and activities for recognition of our spiritual self. The cost is only $185 if you sign up by June 9th, and includes cabin lodging and meals! We will have many workshops on energy awareness, healing, shamanism, and native crafting throughout the weekend, and a campfire story time on Saturday night.
We encourage early registration to secure your cabin or electicial-enabled RV spot, as well as the the unique hide for your drum. This form is a contact form only, and is not a binding agreement for attending the Healing Drum Retreat. Deposits are required to secure you space.
