Drum Making- Who where & how? Part 1 of 3
Drum making takes skill and knowledge, but with the right teacher you can successfully make a drum that can last you a lifetime, with proper care.
Ask anyone who does drumming, even the beginners. They all will tell you that the drum has a life of its own. It carries forward the lifeforce energy of the creature from which it is made.
Horse drums are a symbol of strength and durability. This hide can handle changes in weather (temperature and humidity) better than other rawhide. Remember though, you still want to keep your drum at the right temperature range. “The care you give your drum will resonate in its sound.”
Holding your drum as sacred is not saying that its above you, but that you cherish and honor the energy of spirit and all life around you. This is a powerful statement for any of us to make.
